Learning spaces - why they need to change

Professor Stephen Heppell tells parents (and educators) why the industrial model of "cells and bells" is not the way of the future in this short interview:

First Community Meeting

We held our first community meeting last night at Strathallan and had a great turnout. We had local parents, educators, community council people and politicians come along to hear about our journey and how our vision is evolving. Parents were interested in the design of the learning studios and what teaching and learning will look like for their children.
We had a lot of feedback to our six 'bus stop' questions and we will be sharing the feedback with our community via email over the next week or so.
Thank you to those who turned up to listen, give feedback and have a chat - it was lovely to meet so many of our new community!

Digital Spaces

Ewan McIntosh posted this vimeo on Digital Spaces some time ago and this has inspired some of the thinking around the how, what and where of how we might use technology.

Looking for APs

We are currently in the process of recruiting our two Associate Principals who we hope will join us in August for terms 3 and 4.
We are looking for future focused leaders who want to create and lead in an innovative learning environment. If this is you, or you know someone who might be interested please see the advert in the Education Gazette.
A fabulous opportunity for the right person to join us in our state-of-the-art Y0-8 school opening February 2012.

Two weeks on …

I went to visit the site today on my way to the eBoT meeting. There has been a lot of progress over the past couple of weeks and the graders and diggers were going hard and a load of metal was delivered while I was there. Great to meet some of the guys working hard on the groundwork for our new school.
